Welcome to Woodward Wellbeing Counselling and Psychotherapy
There are numerous motivations for seeking the support of a therapist; a specific current issue or crisis, enduring emotional or relational difficulties, loss, bereavement, the desire for personal insight, growth, and self-development and many more.
During times of uncertainty, it can be helpful to have a safe, calm, and non-judgemental space to talk, process, and work through difficulties.
Gaining insight and understanding of the here and now through the lens of the past, often enable the discovery and development of new ways of being, thinking, and relating that are less compromised by past experiences.

I have extensive training and experience working with complex bereavement, grief, loss and endings. My approach has been influenced by Tonkin’s (1996) theory of 'growing around grief’, moving away from more linear models and focussing on an individual’s felt and lived experience of their loss.

I have further informed my practice through my work with the Body Dysmorphia Foundation as a CBT group facilitator for the charity. I work with BDD in my private practice which can be accompanied by disordered eating which has been a specialism of mine for some years.

I work specifically with systemic trauma which often occurs in ones early developmental stages and has significant implications for a persons relationship to self and others. Relational trauma affects attachment style or ability to be in relationship to other, to process and regulate emotional states and our sense of self; self-esteem and self-confidence.

ADHD symptoms such as hyperactivity, distractibility, impulsivity, disorganisation, and emotional sensitivity can impact everyday life. I work extensively with neurodiversity, adult diagnosis and deliver training to practitioners working with ADHD in the therapeutic space. My approach is ‘neurodiversity affirming’ with a focus on agency and empowerment, moving away from more fixed ideas around ADHD. Working with the individual as opposed the label underpins the premise by which I adapt my approach to my client’s needs.
